Mets Beat Marlins 9-3 Led By Offense and Taijuan Walker

The New York Mets beat the Miami Marlins 9-3 this afternoon at LoanDepot Park in Miami, Florida to take two out of three games in the series and improved their record to 89-52.

After a scoreless top of the first, 2B Jeff McNeil singled with one out in the top of the second and then stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch.

Two batters later, catcher Tomas Nido walked and then CF Brandon Nimmo hit a three-run homer.

In the top of the third, SS Francisco Lindor led off with a hit by pitch and three batters later, 3B Eduardo Escobar walked.

McNeil followed with a RBI single.

In the top of the fourth, Nido led off with a single and then Nimmo followed with a walk.

Two batters later, Lindor singled to load the bases and then 1B Pete Alonso grounded into a fielder's choice which brought home a run. 

In the top of the fifth,  Escobar led off with a single and then McNeil followed with a walk.

Two batters later, Nido broke the game open with a two-run double.

The offense did not do much in the top of the sixth, seventh and eighth innings, but in the top of the ninth, Escobar and Nido hit solo homers.

RHP Taijuan Walker had a stellar outing allowing one run on five hits in seven innings. 

He gave up no walks with 10 strikeouts.

He picked up his 11th win and lowered his ERA to 3.48.

RHP Seth Lugo came in next and gave up a two-run homer to RF Brian Anderson, his second homer of the day.

RHP Adam Ottavino closed it out with a scoreless bottom of the ninth.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Monday September 12 back at home at Citi Field against the Chicago Cubs at 7:10 p.m.
