The New York Mets beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 5-1 this afternoon at PNC Park in the first game of a doubleheader to snap their three-game losing steak and improved their record to 86-51.

Two batters later, 2B Jeff McNeil came through with a RBI single.
The bats held scoreless for the first three innings, but came alive in the top of the fourth after DH Daniel Vogelbach led off with a single and then LF Mark Canha was hit by a pitch.

3B Eduardo Escobar followed with a solo homer, his 15th homer of the year.
