The New York Mets lost to the Milwaukee Brewers 6-0 this afternoon at American Family Field and dropped their record to 95-56.
RHP Taijuan Walker cruised through the first five innings, but in the bottom of the sixth, he gave up a solo homer to SS Willy Adames.
Walker did not allow any more runs in the sixth, but ran into trouble in the bottom of the seventh.
He gave up a lead-off walk to 3B Jace Peterson and gave up doubles to catcher Victor Caratini and a RBI double to LF Tyrone Taylor and was taken out.
LHP David Peterson came in next and retired the next two hitters he faced and then walked Adames to load the bases and was taken out.
RHP Drew Smith followed and gave up a grand slam to pinch-hitter Mike Brosseur on a hanging slider on a 0-2 pitch.
RHP Tylor Megill appeared next in the bottom of the eighth and threw a scoreless inning.
In the top of the first, CF Brandon Nimmo led off with an infield hit and stole second, but never advanced off second base.
In the top of the first, Nimmo left the game with quad tightness after running in for a fly ball.
In the top of the second, CF Mark Canha was hit by a pitch for the 23th time this year a new Met single season record, but did not advance off first.
In the top of the fifth, Canha was hit by a pitch again and Lindor followed with a double, but then LF Jeff McNeil grounded out and struggled running to first.
The offense did not do much for the rest of the game and went 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left nine runners on base.
The Mets are off tomorrow and return to action on Friday, September 23th at the Oakland Athletics at 9:40 p.m.
