LHP David Peterson cruised through the first three innings and then ran into trouble in the bottom of the fourth.
Peterson gave up a lead-off double to SS Jacob Wilson and two batters later, a RBI single to 1B Tyler Soderstrom.
Peterson then gave up back-to-back singles to DH Shea Langerliers and LF Miguel Andujar and a RBI groud-out to CF JJ Bleday.
Peterson was able to settle down after that with scoreless innings in the bottom of the fifth and sixth and was taken out after the sixth.
His final line was six innings, seven hits, two runs, 0 walks and five strikeouts.
RHP Jose Butto came in next in the bottom of the seventh and gave up a one-out single to 2B Max Muncy and a RBI double to the following hitter catcher Jhonny Pereda.
The Met offense struggled all game with men on base and were unable to get a timely hit after they went 0-5 with runners in scoring position leaving eight runners on base.
The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Sunday, April 13 at the Athletics at 4:05 p.m.
