After a scoreless bottom of the first, 3B Mark Vientos singled to lead off the bottom of the second and three batters later, 2B Brett Baty delivered with a two-run homer.
The Met offense did not do much after that and was stymied by former Met RHP Zack Wheeler, but then came alive again in the bottom of the tenth.
1B Pete Alonso came through with a one-out game tying RBI double to score RF Juan Soto who started off the inning off at second base as the ghost runner.
LF Brandon Nimmo was then intentionally walked and two batters later, pinch-hitter Starling Marte came up and delivered a walk-off single.
LHP David Peterson started out well with three scoreless innings including working out of a based loaded jam in the top of the second, but then ran into trouble in the top of the fourth,.
Peterson gave up RBI singles to RBI singles to CF Johan Rojas and SS Trea Turner, but was able to keep the game tied.
Peterson had a scoreless top of the fifth and was taken out with one out in the top of the sixth.
His final line was 5.1 innings, eight hits, two runs, one walk and two strikeouts.
RHP Huascar Brazoban followed with by getting the final two outs in the top of the sifth and the first out in the top of the seventh and was taken out.
LHP Danny Young came in next and had a fantastic appearance striking out 1B Bryce Harper and DH Kyle Schwarber to close out the seventh.
RHP Jose Butto came on in the top of the eighth and had a tough outing allowing two walks and a single by pinch hitter Max Kepler, but was helped out by his defense after Soto threw out RF Nick Castellanos and catcher Hayden Senger applied a perfect tag.
RHP Edwin Diaz came in next in the top of the ninth and had a scoreless inning, but then struggled after coming back out in the top of the tenth.
Diaz gave up a RBI single to Castellanos and had to come out due to an injury.
RHP Max Kranick had to come in and did an outstanding job getting out of a based loaded one out jam to keep it a 3-2 game.
Kranick picked up his second win and lowered his ERA to 2.81.
The Mets are off tomorrow and return back to action on Friday, April 25 at the Washington Nationals at 6:45 p.m.
