The Met offense was held scoreless for the first two innings and then broke through in the bottom of the third.
SS Francisco Lindor led off with a bunt single and then RF Juan Soto followed with a RBI double.
The offense did not do much for the next four innings, but then woke up in the bottom of the eighth.
3B Mark Vientos led off with a walk and was pinch run for by CF Jose Siri.
Siri stole second and then two batters later, CF Tyrone Taylor drove in a much needed insurance run with a RBI single.
RHP Kodai Senga worked around a single and walk in the top of the first and then settled down after that.
Senga had four more scoreless innings from the top of the second through the top of the fifth and was taken out after that.
His final line was five innings, five hits, 0 runs, two walks and four strikeouts.
He picked up his first win and lowered his ERA to 1.80.
LHP Danny Young followed with a scoreless top of the sixth.
RHP Jose Butto came in next and threw two scoreless innings in the top of the seventh and eighth.
RHP Ryne Stanek closed it out with a scoreless top of the ninth to pick up his first save of the season.
The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Tuesday, April 8 at home against the Marlins at 4:10 p.m.
