RHP Kodai Senga had a scoreless bottom of the first, but ran into trouble in the bottom of the second after he gave up a lead-off single to 2B Luis Garcia. Two batters later, he gave up a double to RF Dylan Crews after LF Brandon Nimmo made a mental mistake and then a RBI single to the following hitter 3B Jose Tena.
Senga struggles's continued in the bottom of the bottom of the third after he gave up a lead-off single to CF Jacob Young and then a RBI triple to the following hitter SS C.J. Abrams.
Senga was able to settle down after that and retired the next 11 hitters he faced and came out after a scoreless bottom of the sixth.
His final line was six innings, six hits, two runs, two walks and five strikeouts.
RHP Huascar Brazoban came in the bottom of the seventh and gave up a run on a RBI single by Abrams.
RHP Reed Garrett came on in the bottom of the eighth and threw a scoreless inning.
RHP Ryne Stanek appeared in the bottom of the ninth and got into immediate trouble after he gave up a lead-off triple to Crews and then a RBI single to Tena.
Stanek then retired Young after he grounded into a fielder's choice and was taken out.
LHP A.J. Minter came on and retired Abrams on a grounder for the second out, but then 1B James Wood hit a single that 2B Jeff McNeil was unable to knock game, and then the ball went into centerfield which allowed Abrams to score from first.
The Met offense did not do much for the first seven innings including DH Jesse Winker grounding into a triple play to end the fourth, but then came alive in the top of the eighth.
McNeil led off with a single and three batters later, RF Juan Soto singled,
1B Pete Alonso then walked to load the bases and Nimmo reached on an infield hit to bring in a run.
DH Mark Vientos followed with a based clearing triple.
The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Saturday, April 26 at the Nationals at 4:05 p.m.
