Mets Beat Diamondbacks 8-3 Behind Three Homers

The New York Mets beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 8-3 tonight at Citi Field for their second consecutive win and improved their record to 21-9.

The Met offense had a scoreless bottom of the first, but then came alive with four runs in the bottom of the second.

2B Luisangel Acuna singled with one out and then two batter later, CF Tyrone Taylor drove in Acuna with a RBI double.

CF Jose Azocar followed with a RBI single and then SS Francisco Lindor came through with a two-run homer.

In the bottom of the third, 1B Pete Alonso led off with a walk and then DH Starling Marte followd with a two-run homer.

Two batters later, Acuna singled and stole second and then Taylor drove in Acuna once again this time a RBI single.

In the bottom of the fourth, Alonso hit a solo homer with two outs.

LHP David Peterson had a solid start allowing one run on five hits in five innings.

He gave up no walks with two strikeouts.

Peterson picked up his second win and lowered his ERA to 3.06.

RHP Jose Butto followed with two shutout innings with one walk and four strikeouts.

RHP Kevin Herget closed it out with two runs in the top of the eighth and ninth innings.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Wednesday, April 30 at home against the Diamondbacks at 7:10 p.m.
