SS Francisco Lindor got the Met offense off to a fast start in the bottom of the first with a lead-off homer.
After a scoreless bottom of the second, CF Tyrone Taylor singled to lead off the bottom of the third and two batters later, Lindor singled to advance Taylor to third.
RF Juan Soto followed by driving in Taylor with a sacrifice fly.
In the bottom of the fifth, Soto singled with two outs and then advanced to second on a wild pitch.
1B Pete Alonso came up next and drove in Soto with a RBI single.
In the bottom of the seventh, Lindor reached on an infield single with one out and then Soto walked.
Two batters later, LF Brandon Nimmo drove in the go-ahead run with a RBI single.
In the bottom of the eighth, 2B Luisangel Acuna led off with a double and two batters later, Taylor drove him in with a RBI double.
Catcher Luis Torrens followed with a walk and two batters later, Soto broke the game open with a two-run double.
RHP Clay Holmes had a strong start allowing one run on four hits in six innings. He gave up two walks with six strikeouts.
LHP Danny Young followed in the top of the seventh and gave up two baserunners with two strikeouts and was then taken out.
RHP Jose Butto came in and gave up a two-run double to SS Thomas Saggese.
Butto stayed in for the top of the eighth and threw a scoreless inning with two strikeouts to pick up his second win.
RHP Ryne Stanek gave up a run in the top of the ninth, but was able to pick up the last three outs to close out the game.
The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Monday, April 21 at home against the Philadelphia Phillies at 7:10 p.m.
