Mets Lose to Braves 4-0 After Offense Struggles

The New York Mets lost to the Atlanta Braves 4-0 this afternoon at Citi Field to snap their five-game winning streak and dropped their record to 55-49.

RHP Tylor Megill cruised through the first three innings, but then ran into trouble in the top of the fourth.

Megill gave up back-to-back homers to DH Marcell Ozuna and 1B Matt Olson.

In the top of the fifth, Megill gave up a lead-off walk to catcher Sean Murphy and later in the inning, a RBI single to SS Orlando Arcia.

Megill had a scoreless top of the sixth and then came back out for the top of the seventh and gave up a lead-off homer to LF Eddie Rosario and was then taken out.

His final line was 6.0 innings, five hits, four runs, two walks and four strikeouts.

LHP Danny Young followed with two scoreless innings in the top of the seventh and eighth.

LHP Alex Young threw a scoreless top of the ninth.

The Met offense was shut down by Braves RHP Spencer Schwellenbach who had 11 strikeouts.

They had only four hits and struck out a total of 14 times.

They went 0-5 with runners in scoring position leaving four runners on base.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Sunday, July 28 at home against the Braves at 1:40 p.m.
