The New York Mets beat the Miami Marlins 1-0 this afternoon at LoanDePot Park and improved their record to 50-47.

RF D.J. Stewart then walked to load the based and catcher Francisco Alvarez grounded into a fielder's choice to bring in a run.

RHP Luis Severino had an outstanding start with six scoreless innings.

Severino allowed two hits and three walks with seven strikeouts.

He had great life on his fastball averaging 96.8 mph and topped out at 98 mph four times.

He picked up his seventh win and lowered his ERA to 3.58.

RHP Jose Butto followed with a scoreless bottom of the seventh and had two strikeouts.

RHP Dedneil Nunez came on in the bottom of the eighth and worked around two hits with three strikeouts to throw a scoreless inning.

RHP Edwin Diaz closed it out with a 1-2-3 bottom of the ninth and picked his 11th save of the season.
