The New York Mets beat the Minnesota Twins 2-0 tonight at Citi Field for their second consecutive win and improved their record to 57-50.

The Met offense was held scoreless for the first three innings against RHP David Festa, but then broke through in the bottom of the fourth.

LF Brandon Nimmo walked with one out and then advanced to second on a balk and then third on a wild pitch.

D.H. J.D. Martinez followed with a RBI single.

3B Mark Vientos led off the bottom of the fifth with a solo homer.

LHP Sean Manaea had a fantastic start with seven scoreless innings.

Manaea allowed two hits and one walk with  a season-high 11 strikeouts.

He had outstanding command of his fastball with a nasty slider which helped him get key strikeouts.

Manaea picked up his seventh win and lowered his ERA to 3.50.

RHP Ryan Stanek came on in the top of the eighth and was let down by his defense after 1B Pete Alonso made an error to start the inning and Stanek was only able to record two outs and then was taken out.

RHP Edwin Diaz followed and then closed out the game by picking up the last four outs to earn his 13h save.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Wednesday, July 31 at home against the Twins at 1:10 p.m.
