Mets Hang On To Beat Rockies 7-6 Powered By Bader and Iglesias

The New York Mets beat the Colorado Rockies 7-6 tonight at Citi Field for their fourth consecutive win and improved their record to 48-45.

After a scoreless bottom of the first, 3B Mark Vientos and 2B Jose Iglesias began the inning with back-to-back homers and two batters later, CF Harrison Bader hit a solo homer.

In the bottom of the third, catcher Francisco Alvarez doubled with one out and then Vientos followed with a RBI double.

In the bottom of the fourth, RF Jeff McNeil led off with a single and Bader followed with a two-run homer his second of the game.

In the bottom of the fifth, Iglesias led off with a solo homer which was also his second of the game.

LHP Sean Manaea had a scoreless top of the first and then gave up a two-run homer to 1B Michael Toglia in the top of the second.

Manaea had scoreless innings in the top of the third, fourth, fifth and sixth and then gave up a solo homer to 2B Brendan Rodgers and was taken out after the inning.

His final line was seven innings, five hits, three runs, one walk and nine strikeouts.

He picked up his sixth win.

LHP Jake Diekman came on in the top of the eighth and had a difficult outing allowing a lead-off homer to DH Charlie Blackmon and then a double to SS Ezequiel Tovar and was taken out with one out in the inning.

RHP Phil Maton followed and gave up a two-run homer to CF Brenton Doyle, but was able to get out of the inning maintaining the lead.

RHP Edwin Diaz came on in the top of the ninth and worked around two two-out walks by striking out Tovar to close out the game and picked up his 10th save.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Saturday, July 13 at home against the Rockies at 4:10 p.m.
