Mets Lose to Nationals 1-0 And Waste Stellar Quintana Start

The New York Mets lost to the Washington Nationals 1-0 this morning at Nationals Park to split their four-game series and dropped their record to under .500 at 42-43.

LHP Jose Quintana had a terrific outing throwing seven scoreless innings.

Quintana allowed four hits and three walks with one strikeout.

He lowered his ERA to 4.22.

RHP Adrian Houser came on in the bottom of the eighth and gave up a solo homer to pinch-hitter Jesse Winker in the bottom of the eighth.

The Met offense did nothing all game and managed only hit in the top of the third on a single by 2B Jeff McNeil.

The other baserunner came in the top of the second on a walk by D.H. D.J. Stewart.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Friday, July 5 at the Pittsburgh Pirates at 6:40 p.m.
