The New York Mets lost to the Pittsburgh Pirates 14-2 tonight at PNC Park for their third consecutive loss and dropped their record to 42-44.

RHP Luis Severino started out well with three scoreless innings, but then it began to unravel in the bottom of the fourth.

Severino gave up solo homers to 1B Rowdy Tellez and LF Jack Suwinski and it got worse for him in the bottom of the fifth.

Severino gave up a two-run homer to DH Bryan Reynolds and then had a scoreless bottom of the sixth.

He had a rough bottom of the seventh and loaded the bases and was then out.

His final line was 6.0 innings, nine hits, seven runs, two walks and three strikeouts.

LHP Jake Diekman followed and gave up a grand slam to Reynolds and was taken out after the inning.

RHP Ty Adcock came on in the bottom of the eighth and had a brutal inning allowing solo homers to catcher Yasmany Grandal and CF Michael Taylor and later in the inning a grand slam to Tellez.

2B Jeff McNeil drove in the first run of the game with a solo homer in the top of the third.

3B Jose Iglesias drove in the other run for the Mets in the top of the fourth after he grounded into a fielder's choice.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Saturday, July 6 at the Pirates at 4:05 p.m.
