Mets Rally To Beat Rangers 7-6 For Seventh Consecutive Win

The New York Mets beat the Texas Rangers 7-6 tonight at Globe Life Stadium for their seventh consecutive win and improved their record to 35-37.

3B Mark Vientos drove in the first run of the game with a solo homer in the top of the second,

In the top of the fifth, Vientos and catcher Francisco Alvarez singled and then CF Harrison Bader drove in Vientos with a RBI ground-out.

In the top of the sixth, LF Brandon Nimmo led off with a homer,

In the top of the seventh, Vientos and Alvarez singled once again and then pinch-hitter D.J. Stewart walked to load the bases.

SS Francisco Lindor followed by grounding into a fielder's choice which brought home a run.

In the top of the eighth, Alonso singled with one out and RF Starling Marte followed with a single.

Two batters later, Alvarez came up and delivered a clutch two-run double to tie the game.

In the top of the ninth, Nimmo walked with one out and then D.H. J.D. Martinez reached first on a catcher interference.

Alonso came up next and drove in the game-winning run on a RBI double.

RHP Luis Severino had scoreless innings in the bottom of the first and second, and then gave up a run in the bottom of the third on a RBI ground-out by SS Corey Seager.

Severino had a scoreless bottom of the fourth, but then it all came apart for him in the bottom of the fifth.

Severino gave up back-to-back hits to begin the inning and then gave up a RBI single to Seager.

Severino allowed a three-run homer to the following hitter D.H. Josh Smith and two batters later, gave up a solo homer to LF Wyatt Lankford.

Severino recorded one out in the bottom of the seventh and was then taken out.

His final line was 6.1 innings, eight hits, six runs, one walk and two strikeouts.

LHP Jake Diekman came in next and got the last two outs in the bottom of the seventh.

RHP Reed Garrett followed and threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth.

Garrett picked up his seventh win.

RHP Edwin Diaz closed it out with a scoreless bottom of the ninth and picked up his seventh save.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Wednesday, June 19 at the Rangers at 8:05 p.m.
