The New York Mets lost to the Chicago Cubs 8-1 this afternoon at Wrigley Field and dropped their record to 36-39.

RHP Tylor Megill got off to rocky start in the bottom of the first after he gave up a lead-off walk 2B Nico Hoerner and then threw a wild pitch to advance Horner to second.

Megill walked RF Cody Bellinger and then gave up a RBI single to DH Seiya Suzuki.

Megill's struggles continued later in the inning after he gave up a RBI ground-out to LF Ian Happ and and a RBI single by 3B Christopher Morel.

It only got worse for Megill in the inning after he gave up a RBI double to SS Dansby Swanson and a RBI triple to CF Pete Crow-Armstrong.

Megill had a scoreless bottom of the second and then gave up a solo homer to Morel in the bottom of the third and was taken out after the inning.

His final line was three innings, five hits, six runs, three walks and six strikeouts.

LHP Danny Young followed with 1.1 scoreless innings.

RHP Adrian Houser came in next and allowed one run on four hits in 3.2 innings on a RBI ground-out by Bellinger.

The Met offense did not do much outside of a solo homer by catcher Francisco Alvarez in the top of the fifth.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Sunday, June 23 at the Cubs at 7:10 p.m.
