The Met offense got off to a fast start in the bottom of the first after SS Francisco Lindor led off with a solo homer and then LF Brandon Nimmo followed a single.
D.H. J.D. Martinez then walked and 1B Pete Alonso came up and broke out of his slump with a three-run homer.
The offense did not do much in the next two innings, but then came alive again in the bottom of the fourth.
Catcher Luis Torrens led off with a single and then advanced to second on a wild pitch by RHP Dylan Cease.
Two batters later, CF Harrison Bader drove in Bader with a RBI double.
Bader later advanced to third on another wild pitch by Cease and Lindor followed by driving in another run on a sacrifice fly.
Nimmo then hit another single and Martinez came up next and continued his torrid stretch with a RBI double.
After scoreless innings in the bottom of the fifth, sixth and seventh, Torrens led off the bottom of the eighth with a solo homer.
2B Jeff McNeil followed with a double and then Bader singled and stole second.
Lindor walked to load the bases and Nimmo followed with a RBI single.
Two batters later, Alonso broke the game open with a two-run single.
RHP Tylor Megill had a decent start allowing two runs on five hits in five innings.
He gave up two walks with five strikeouts.
Megill picked up his second win.
RHP Adrian Houser followed with two scoreless innings in the top of the sixth and seventh.
Houser came back out for the top of the eighth and was taken out after he gave up a lead-off single to DH Jurickson Profar and was then taken out.
LHP Jake Diekman came in next and gave up an inherited run that was charged to Houser on a based loaded walk to CF Jackson Merrill.
Diekman then allowed another run on a RBI ground-out by LF David Peralta and was then taken out.
RHP Drew Smith came on and gave up a RBI double to SS Ha-Seong Kim.
Smith was then helped out by his defense after Bader made a stellar leaping catch to hold catcher Luis Campusano to a sacrifice fly.
Smith gave up a single to the following hitter 1B Luis Arraez and then came back to strike out RF Fernando Tatis Jr to get out of the inning and keep a one-run lead.
RHP Sean Reid-Foley closed it out with a scoreless top of the ninth inning.
The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Monday, June 17 at the Texas Rangers at 8:05 p.m.
