Mets Beat the Astros 7-2 Led By McNeil

The New York Mets beat the Houston Astros 7-2 tonight at Citi Field for their fourth consecutive win and improved their record back to over .500 at 40-39.

In the bottom of the first, catcher Francisco Alvarez drove in the first run of the game on a sacrifice fly.

In the bottom of the fourth, RF Tyrone Taylor drove in a run on a solo homer.

In the bottom of the sixth, 1B Pete Alonso hit a solo homer.

In the bottom of the seventh, 2B Jeff McNeil broke the game open with a three-run homer.

In the bottom of the eighth, SS Francisco Lindor tacked on a RBI with a RBI double.

LHP Jose Quintana did not have his best outing allowing two runs on six hits in four innings.

He gave up three walks with seven strikeouts.

RHP Adam Ottavino followed with a scoreless top of the fifth.

RHP Dedneil Nunez came in next and threw two scoreless innings in the top of the sixth and seventh.

Nunez gave up three hits with one walk and one strikeout.

He picked up his second win.

LHP Jake Diekman threw a scoreless top of the eighth.

RHP Reed Garrett closed it out with a scoreless top of the ninth.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Saturday, June 29 at home against the Astros at 4:10 p.m.
