Mets Lose to Phillies 5-4 in 10 Innings

 The New York Mets lost to the Philadelphia Phillies 5-4 in 10 innings tonight at Citizens Bank Park for their second consecutive loss and dropped their record to 71-83.

RHP Tylor Megill started out well with five scoreless innings, but gave up a three-run homer to catcher JT Realmuto in the bottom of the sixth and was taken out after the inning.

His final line was six innings, five hits, three runs, one walk and six strikeouts.

RHP Phil Bickford came in next and gave up a RBI single to DH Kyle Schwarber in the bottom of the seventh.

RHP Drew Smith followed and threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth.

LHP Brooks Raley threw a scoreless bottom of the ninth.

RHP Adam Ottavino gave up a walk-off RBI single to 3B Alex Bohm in the bottom of the tenth.

In the top of the first, CF Brandon Nimmo led off with a walk and then three batters later, 1B Pete Alonso drove in Nimmo with a ground-rule double.

The Met offense did not do much for the next three innings, but in the top of the fifth, LF Rafael Ortega and catcher Omar Narvaez singled and then Nimmo came through with a RBI single.

In the top of the eighth, SS Francisco Lindor hit a solo homer.

In the top of the ninth, 3B Brett Baty hit a game-tying solo homer off closer RHP Craig Kimbrel.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Saturday, September 23 at the Phillies at 4:05 p.m.
