The New York Mets beat the Miami Marlins 2-1 tonight at loanDepot Park in Miami, Florida for their second consecutive win and improved their record to 70-80.

The Met offense was held scoreless for the first four innings against RHP Edward Cabrera, but in the top of the fifth, 2B Ronny Maurico singled with one out and then stole second.

Catcher Omar Narvaez followed with a walk and then DH Mark Vientos followed with a RBI single to score Maurico.

The bats did not do much for the next three innings until the top of the ninth after LF Jeff McNeil led off and hit the game-winning homer.

RHP Jose Butto had another excellent start allowing one run on four hits in six innings.

Butto gave up one walk with six strikeouts.

He had sharp command of his fastball, slider and change-up.

Butto lowered his ERA to 3.09.

RHP Grant Hartwig followed with a scoreless bottom of the seventh.

RHP Phil Bickford came in next and threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth.

Bickford picked up his fifth win of the season.

RHP Adam Ottavino closed it out with a scoreless bottom of the ninth and picked up his 11th save.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Tuesday, September 19 at the Marlins at 6:40 p.m.
