The New York Mets lost to the Philadelphia Phillies 5-4 tonight at Citizens Bank Park and dropped their record to 71-82.
LHP David Peterson got off to a tough start in the bottom of the first after he gave up a two-run single to RF Nick Castellanos.
Peterson had a scoreless bottom of the second, but gave up a solo homer to 3B Alec Bohm in the bottom of the third.
Later in the inning, Peterson gave up a sacrifice fly to Castellanos.
Peterson had a scoreless bottom of the fourth and was taken out after the inning.
His final line was four innings, five hits, four runs, two walks and seven strikeouts.
RHP Jeff Brigham came in next and had a scoreless bottom of the fifth, but gave up a solo homer to Castellanos in the bottom of the sixth and was taken out in the inning.
RHP Grant Hartwig followed and threw 2.1 scoreless innings.
In the top of the second, RF Jeff McNeil hit a RBI double and later in the inning 3B Brett Baty hit a RBI single.
In the top of the fourth, catcher Francisco Alvarez hit a sacrifice fly.
In the top of the sixth, DH Mark Vientos hit a solo homer.'
The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Friday, September 22, at the Phillies at 7:05 p.m.
