Mets Beat Marlins 8-3 Powered By Vientos

 The New York Mets beat the Miami Marlins 8-3 tonight at loanDepot Park in Miami, Florida to take two out of three games in the series and improved their record to 71-81.

After a scoreless top of the first, DH Mark Vientos drove in the first run of the game in the top of the second with a solo homer.

In the top of the third, 2B Ronny Mauricio singled to bring in CF Brandon Nimmo who came around to score from first after 3B Jake Burger made an error.

1B Pete Alonso followed with a sacrifice fly.

The bats did not do much for the next two innings, but in the top of the sixth, Vientos hit another solo homer, his second of the game.

In the top of the seventh, Alonso drove in his second run of the game with a RBI single.

Lindor followed with a RBI groundout.

In the top of the eighth. 3B Brett Baty crushed a moonshot 440 foot homer into the upper deck after missing the last week due to groin stiffness.

In the top of the ninth, CF Brandon Nimmo capped off the scoring with a solo homer.

RHP Kodai Senga had another solid start allowing two runs on seven hits in six innings.

Senga gave up two walks with three strikeouts.

He picked up his 12th win.

RHP Drew Smith followed with a scoreless bottom of the seventh.

LHP Brooks Raley came on in the bottom of the eighth and gave up a RBI single to pinch-hitter Yuli Gurriel and recorded two outs.

RHP Phil Bickford had to come in to get the last out in the bottom of the eighth.

RHP Trevor Gott closed it out with a scoreless bottom of the ninth.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Thursday, September 21 at the Philadelphia Phillies at 7:15 p.m.
