Mets Lose To Astros 10-8 After Pitching Struggles Continue

The New York Mets lost to the Houston Astros 10-8 this afternoon at Minute Maid Park to lose two out of three games in the series and dropped their record to 34-40.

Mets RHP Tylor Megill got off to a tough start in the bottom of the first after he gave up two runs on a wild pitch and RBI single by 3B Alex Bregman.

Megill had a scoreless bottom of the second, but gave up two more runs in the bottom of the third on two-run single by LF Corey Julks and was then taken out.

His final line was 2.1 innings, four hits, five runs, four walks and two strikeouts.

RHP Dominic Leone followed and gave up four runs in 1.1 innings.

RHP Grant Hartwig came in next and threw 1.1 scoreless innings.

LHP Josh Walker gave up a run in the bottom of the sixth,

RHP Adam Ottavino threw two scoreless innings in the bottom of the seventh and eighth.

In the top of the second, RF Starling Marte hit a two-run double. 

SS Francisco Lindor followed with a sacrifice fly.

In the top of the third, DH Daniel Vogelbach came through with a RBI single.

In the top of the fourth, Vogelbach kept up his strong day at the plate with a two-run single.

In the top of the sixth, 1B Pete Alonso broke out of his slump with a two-run homer.

The Mets are off tomorrow and return back to action on Friday, June 23 at the Philadelphia Phillies at 7:05 p.m.
