The New York Mets traded 3B Eduardo Escobar to the Los Angeles Angels on Friday for pitching prospects RHP Coleman Crow and RHP Landon Marceaux.
Escobar had hit well since being move to a part-time bench and Brett Baty was named starting third baseman and hit .323 with three homers, two triples, and a double in 67 plate appearances.
Crow is the No. 19 ranked prospect in the Angels system and has 1.88 ERA and 0.63 WHIP with 31 strikeouts and six walks in 24 innings in four Double-A starts this year, but has been on the injured list since May with elbow inflammation.
Marceaux is the No.20 ranked prospect in the Angels system with a 4.88 ERA and 1.54 WHIP in 12 Double-A starts this year.
The Mets will be paying all of Escobar's salary this year.
