The New York Mets lost to the Milwaukee Brewers 5-2 tonight at Citi Field and dropped their record to 36-44.

RHP Kodai Senga got off to a rocky start in the top of the first after he gave up a lead-off double to LF Christian Yelich and after back-to-back strikeouts, walked SS Willy Adames and then gave up a two-run double to DH Jesse Winker.

Senga settled down after that and did not allow any more runs working out of his of a bases loaded jam in the top of the third, but once again was hurt by a high pitch count.

He had to come out after five innings with 102 pitches and his final line was five innings, two runs, two walks and eight strikeouts.

RHP Grant Harwig came in next in the top of the sixth and gave up a RBI single to RF Blake Perkins.

LHP Brooks Raley followed and there a scoreless top of the seventh.

RHP Adam Ottavino came on in the top of the eighth and after retiring the first two hitters, gave up a double to 3B Brian Anderson, walked Perkins and then hit CF Joey Wiemer on a close pitch to load the bases.

Ottavino then gave up a two-run single to Yelich.

LHP T.J. McFarland threw a scoreless top of the ninth.

LF Tommy Pham drove in the first run of the game with a solo homer in the bottom of the second.

In the bottom of the fourth, SS Francisco Lindor walked, 1B Pete Alonso singled and then Pham walked to load the bases.

Catcher Francisco Alvarez then drew another walk to bring in tying run, but then 3B Brett Baty struck out and LF Mark Canha grounded into a double play to end the threat and waste a golden scoring opportunity.

The Met offense could not come up with a big hit all night and went 0-6 with runners in scoring position leaving seven runners on base.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Thursday, June 29 at home against the Brewers at 7:10 p.m.
