The New York Mets beat the San Padres 8-5 tonight at Citi Field to snap their three-game losing streak and improved their record to 59-37.

The offense was held scoreless for the first five innings wasted another scoring opportunity this time with runners on second and third no outs in the bottom of the fifth.

In the bottom of the sixth, the bats finally broke through after RF Starling Marte led off with a single and SS Francisco Lindor followed with a double.

Two batters later, newly acquired DH Daniel Vogelbach walked and after LF Mark Canha grounded out, 3B Luis Guillorme drove in Vogelbach with an RBI single.

Catcher Tomas Nido followed with a RBI double.

In the following inning, Marte led off with a walk and Lindor followed with a single.

Alonso then hit a RBI double for his fourth RBI of the night and three batters later Canha reached on an infield single which allowed Lindor and Alonso to second and then advanced to second after 3B Manny Machado made a throwing errror,

Carrasco stranded five runners in the first four innings and allowed at least one hit in the first four innings, but did not allow any runs.

He was helped out by inducing two double play grounders.

His final line was five innings, six hits, no runs, two walks and one strikeout.

RHP Drew Smith came in next in the top of the sixth and gave up a RBI double to 1B Eric Hosmer, but was helped out by his defense after CF Brandon Nimmo made an outstanding catcher to rob catcher Austin Nola to end the inning.

Smith picked up his first win.

RHP Seth Lugo threw a scoreless top of the seventh,

LHP David Peterson came in the top of the eighth and gave up a RBI single to Nola, but was able to get out of the inning allowing one run.
