The New York Mets acquired DH/1B Daniel Vogelbach from the Pittsburgh Pirates today in exchange for reliever RHP Colin Holderman.

Vogelbach is hitting .228 with 12 homers and 34 RBI with a .769 OPS in 237 at-bats.

He has hit well against right-handed pitching this year with 12 homers, 10 doubles, a .365 on-base percentage and a .869 OPS.

Vogelbach also has a .817 OPS against RHP in his career and 55 of his 61 career homers have come against right-handed pitching.

He fills an important need for the team since they have been desperately lacking power from the DH spot due to the struggles of Dom Smith and J.D. Davis.

Vogelbach also hits well against RHP which is another where the Mets have struggled this year.

He is under team control through 2024 which means that he will not be on the roster this year, but in the next two years as well.
