The New York Mets lost to the Houston Astros 5-3 this afternoon at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas to get swept in the two game series and dropped their record to 45-26.

RHP Carlos Carrasco got into immediate trouble in the bottom of the first after he gave up a lead-off walk to 2B Jose Altuve and then a RBI double to DH Michael Brantley.

Carraso's struggles in the inning continued after he gave up a two-run homer to the following hitter 3B Alex Begman and a solo homer to the next hitter LF Yordan Alvarez.

Carrasco was able to recover and get out of the inning with four runs.

He left the game after 2 1/3 innings with back tightness allowing five runs on four hits, with two walks and two strikeouts and gave up three homers.

RHP Tommy Hunter came in next and threw 1.1 scoreless innings.

LHP Joely Rodriguez appeared next and also threw 1.1 scoreless innings.

RHP Edwin Diaz came in next to get the last out in the bottom of the eighth.

The offense was held scoreless for the first two innings until the top of the third after DH Dom Smith doubled to lead of the inning and then advanced to third after catcher Tomas Nido grounded out to second.

CF Brandon Nimmo then drove in Smith with a sacrifice fly.

The bats did not much in the next two innings, but came alive in the top of the sixth after Nimmo led off with a walk and RF Starling Marte followed with a RBI double.

SS Francisco Lindor then singled and 1B Pete Alonso drove in a run with a sacrifice fly and 2B Luis Guillorme doubled to put the tying runs on base.

LF Mark Canha followed with a walk to load the bases, but then 3B Eduardo Escobar popped out and Smith struck out to end the threat.

After that, the offense did not do much for the rest of the game and were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left seven runners on base.

The Mets are off tomorrow and return back to action on Friday, June 24th at the Miami Marlins at 6:40 p.m.
