The New York Mets lost to the Miami Marlins 6-2 afternoon at Citi Field to snap their three-game winning streak and dropped their record to 44-24.

RHP Chris Bassitt dominated through the first six innings and extended his scoreless inning streak to 14, but ran into trouble in the top of the seventh.

Bassitt gave up a lead-off single to SS Miguel Rojas and two batters later a single to catcher Jacob Stallings.

Bassitt then walked CF Bryan De La Cruz to load the bases with one out and was then taken out.

RHP Seth Lugo came in next and gave up a grand slam to RF Jerar Encarncion for the first hit of his career in his first game.

Lugo's struggles in the inning continued after he walked 2B Jazz Chisholm Jr and then gave up a RBI double to Jon Berti before finally getting out of the inning.

RHP Tommy Hunter followed and threw 1.2 scoreless innings.

LHP Joely Rodrigiez had to come in to get the last out in the top of the ninth.

The bats struggled against NL Cy Young frontrunner RHP Sandy Alcantara and did not do much until the bottom of the sixth after RF Starling Marte tripled with two outs and then SS Francisco Lindor hit a RBI single.

In the bottom of the seventh, LF Jeff McNeil hit a lead-off double and two batters later 2B Luis Guillorme hit a RBI single.

The offense managed only two hits against Alcantara in eight innings and were 2-9 with runners in scoring position and left six runners on base.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Monday June 20th at home against the Marlins at 1:10 p.m.
