The New York Mets lost to the Houston Astros 8-2 tonight at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas and dropped their record to 45-25.

RHP Trevor Williams started out well with two scoreless innings, but ran into trouble in the bottom of the third after he gave up a solo homer to 2B Jose Altuve and two batters walked 3B Alex Bregman and then a two-run homer to the following hitter DH Yordan Alvarez.

Williams recovered after that with a scoreless bottom of the fourth and was then taken out.

His final line was four innings, four hits, three runs, three walks and two strikeouts.

LHP Chasen Shreve came in next and got into immediate trouble after he walked Altuve with one out and then gave up a single to LF Michael Brantley and two batters later walked Alvarez to load the bases.

Shreve then gave up a three-run based clearing double to the following hitter RF Kyle Tucker which increased the lead to 6-0 and helped break the game open.

Later in the inning, Shreve walked 1B Yuri Gurriel and then gave up a RBI double to SS Mauricio Dubon before finally getting out of the inning and was then taken out.

RHP Adonis Medina followed and threw scoreless innings in the bottom of the sixth and seventh and then came back out for a third inning in the bottom of the eighth and gave up a solo homer to CF Jose Siri.

The offense did not much for the first five innings against RHP Jose Urigudy, but in the top of the sixth 1B Pete Alonso hit a solo homer for his 20th homer of the year.

3B Eduardo Eduardo added a solo homer in the top of the seventh.

The bats wasted several scoring opportunities with runners on base and were 0-6 with runners in scoring position and left eight runners on base.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Wednesday June 22th at the Astros at 2:10 p.m.
