Mets Crushed By Astros 9-1 And Carlos Carrasco Struggles

 The New York Mets lost to the Houston Astros 9-1 tonight at Citi Field for their second consecutive loss and dropped their record to 47-28.

RHP Carlos Carrasco got off to another tough start in the top of the first after he gave up a lead-off walk to 2B Jose Altuve and two batters later a single to DH Yordan Alvarez.

Carrasco then gave up a single to 3B Alex Bregman and a three-run homer to RF Kyle Tucker.

Carrasco did not give any more runs in the inning and had scoreless innings in the top of the second and third but ran into more trouble in the top of the fourth.

He gave up a lead-off walk to Tucker and three batters later a RBI single to CF Jake Myers.

Carrasco gave up a one-out single with one out in the top of the fifth and was then taken out.

His final line was 4.1 innings, six hits, six runs, three walks and four strikeouts.

LHP Chasen Shreve came in next and gave up a three-run homer to Alvarez, his second of the night.

Later in the inning, Shreve gave up a two-run homer to 1B Yuli Gurriel and was taken out.

RHP Trevor Williams came in next and threw 2.1 scoreless innings.

RHP Adonis Medina threw two scoreless innings in the top of eighth and ninth.

The offense did not do much for the first eight innings and wasted two lead-off doubles by RF Starling Marte in the bottom of the first and fourth.

In the bottom of the ninth, catcher Tomas Nido led off with a walk and DH J.D. Davis followed with a single.

Three batters later, 2B Luis Guillorme singled to load the bases and then catcher James McCann followed with a walk to bring in a run.

Outfielder Ender Inciarte then grounded out to end the game.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Wednesday June 29th at home against the Astros at 1:10 p.m.
