Mets Lose to Rays 7-1 to get swept in three-games series and lose more players to injuries

Mets 2B Jose Peraza (Credits to Mary Holt-USA Today Sports) The New York Mets lost to the Tampa Bay Rays 7-1 this afternoon to get swept in their three-game series and dropped their record to 18-16. RHP Marcus Stroman started out well with three scorleess innings, but ran into trouble in the bottom of the fourth after he gave up a single to 1B Ji-Man Choi and then a two-run homer to Met killer RF Manuel Margot. Stroman's struggles continued in the bottom of the fifth after he hit catcher Francisco Meija to start the inning and then a two-run homer to SS Willy Adames. Stroman gave up a solo homer to 2B Brandon Lowe in the bottom of the sixth and was taken out after the inning. His final line was six innings, six hits, five runs, one walk and one strikeouts. He gave up three homers, which ties his career-high for most homers allowed in one game. RHP Robert Gsellman followed and threw a scoreless bottom of the seventh inning. RHP Edwin Diaz came in next in the bottom of the eighth and gave up two runs on three hits. The offense was held scoreless for the first five innings until the top of the sixth when DH Patrick Mazieka hit his first career homer.and they didn't have any more hits the rest of the game. Injury News DH Jeff McNeil and RF Michael Conforto both left the game with hamstring tightness. McNeil singled to lead off the top of the first and later left with hamstring tightness after he was still dealing with an injury from the last series against the Orioles. Conforto grounded into a double play in the top of the first and grabbed his hamstring and left the game. McNeil was diagnosed with left hamstirng tightness and Conforto was diagnosed with right hamstring tightness. The Mets next game is tomorrow night at the Atlanta Braves at 7:10 p.m.
