Mets Beat Diamondbacks 4-2 due to strong performances by bullpen

New York Mets Reliever Jeurys Familia and SS Francisco Lindor (Credits to MetsMerizedOnline.com) The New York Mets beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 4-2 tonight for their fourth consecutive win and improved their record to 15-13. The offense got off to a slow start for the first two innings until the bottom of the third after LHP Joey Lucchesi led off with a walk and then 2B Jeff McNeil followed with a two-run homer. SS Francisco Lindor then walked and two batters later, Lindor stole second and then scored on a throwing error by Diamondbacks catcher Carson Kelly. In the bottom of the seventh, pinch-hitter Jose Peraza led off with a walk and then McNeil grounded into a fielder's choice and later stole second. Lindor followed with a RBI single. RHP Tommy Hunter got the start tonight out of the bullpen as an "opener" and did a fine job throwing two scoreless innings with no hits or walks and one strikeout. LHP Joey Lucchesi followed and allowed one run on three hits with one walk and three strikeouts in 2 1/3 innings. Lucchesi picked up his first win. RHP Jeurys Familia then threw 1 2/3 scoreless innings with three hits and two strikeouts and worked out of a based loaded jam in the top of the seventh. Familia lowered his ERA to 0.93. LHP Aaron Loup gave up a run on a RBI single by pinch-hitter Stephen Vought in the top of the eighth inning, but was able to get out of the inning withh a one-run lead. RHP Trevor May came on in the top of the ninth and gave up a hit, but was still able to throw a scorless inning and picked up his first save of the year. The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon at home against the Diamondbacks at 1:10 p.m.
