Jacob deGrom Goes On 10-Day Injured List

New York Mets RHP Jacob deGrom (Credits to Wendell Cruz-USA Today Sports) The New York Mets announced today that RHP Jacob deGrom has been played on the 10-day injured list with right side tightness. deGrom was moved to the IL retroactive to May 10th. He was able to make his start yesterday against the Diamondbacks and started out well with four scoreless innings, but struggled in the top of the fifth inning where he showed that he was dealing with discomfort on the mound. DeGrom was able to get out of a bases loaded jam allowing one run to keep the lead. He came back out for the top of the sixth and threw two warmup pitches, but then called Mets trainer Brian Chicklo out onto the field and deGrom was then taken out of the game and went for an MRI. Fortunately his MRI came back clean and revealed no structural damage. DeGrom could return from the IL on May 21st against the Marlins. The Mets play eight games from now until May 21st so deGrom should only miss only one start if all goes well.
