The New York Mets lost to the Miami Marlins 5-1 this afternoon to lose two out of three games in the series and dropped their record to 21-19.
RHP Jordan Yamamoto had a scoreless bottom of the first inning, but it all fell apart for him in the bottom of the second inning and he gave up a single, walk and hit-by pitch to load the bases.
Yamamoto struck out CF Magneuris Sierra, but then gave up a high chopper to Marlins starter RHP Cody Poteet toward the third base line and Yamamoto threw the ball home, but the throw went wide and the run scored.
He then gave up a RBI single to 2B Jazz Chisholm Jr and then got SS Miguel Rojas to ground out in what should bave been a double player, but SS Francisco Lindor made a throwing error which allowed two runs to score.
Yamamoto then gave up a RBI single to 1B Jesus Aguilar before finally getting out of the inning.
Yamamato settled down after that with scoreless innings in the bottom of the third and fourth and was taken out after the inning with shoulder soreness.
His final line was four innings, six hits, five runs (four earned), two walks and two strikeouts.
RHP Robert Gsellman followed with three scoreless innings in the bottom of the fifth, sixth and seventh innings with two strikeouts and one hit.
RHP Yennsy Diaz then came in the bottom of the eighth in his Met debut and threw a scoreless inning.
Thw offense did nothing against Marlins starter RHP Cody Poteet in seventh inning and had only three hits.
In the top of the eighth, CF Johneshwy Fargas led off with a double and 2B Wilfredo Tovar hit a RBI single with two outs.
The Mets next game is back home tomorrow night against the Colorado Rockies at 7:10.
