Mets Call Up Wilfredo Tofar To Replace Kevin Pillar

Mets infielder Wilfredo Tofar (Credist to Mets MerizedOnline.com) The New York Mets called up utility man Wilfredo Tovar from Triple-A Syracuse to replace outfielder Kevin Pillar who went on the injured list after he was hit by a pitch in the face in last night's game at the Braves. Tovar was signed by the Mets in 2017 and made his debut with them in 2013 and then was signed to some minor league deals and last played for the Los Angeles Angels in 2019. He is primarily a middle infielder, but can also play the corner infield and outfield. Tovar has hit .200 for Triple-A Syracuse with seven RBI's in 10 games. He will most likely be an extra bat off the bench late in games.
