New York Mets legend RHP Tom Seaver passed away tonight at 75 years from complications of dementia and COVID-19 according to a family spokesman. Seaver won 311 games, had 3,640 strikeouts, three Cy Young awards in 1969,1973, and 1975 and a career ERA of 2.86.  He is one of two pitchers in MLB history with 300+wins, 3,000+strikeouts and an ERA under 3 in their  lifetime careers.  He won Rookie of the Year in 1967 and was a 12x All-Star, 3xNL win leader, 3X NL ERA leader, and 5x NL strikeout leader. Seaver was an integral piece of the 1969 "Miracle Mets" World Series Championship team after he won 25 games which is still a team record.

He helped turn the franchise around from lovable losers to a Word Series Championship team.  He made them believe they could win with his talent, passion and leadership.   They would have never won that World Series without him.

Seaver was the first Mets player to have his number retired in 1988.  He was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1992 and received the highest percentage of votes at the time with 98.84%.

His legacy will live on and  he will always be loved and remembered by Met fans forever. RIP Tom.
