Mets vs. Nationals Game 57 Recap

Mets LHP David Peterson (Credits to MetsMerizedOnline.com) The New York Mets beat the Washington Nationals 3-2 tonight to snap their one-game losing steak and improved their record to 26-31.Catcher Robinson Chirinos was the start of the offense driving in all three runs. Chrinos hit a two-run homer in the top of the fifth and a RBI single in the top of the sixth. LHP David Peterson was outstanding in his last start of the season. Peterson allowed one run on four innings in seven innings. He gave up one walk and had four strikeouts. Peterson picked up his sixth win on the season. He is the first Mets rookie pitcher to lead the team in wins since RHP Dillion Gee in 2011. LHP Justin Wilson followed with a scoreless bottom of the eighth inning. RHP Edwin Diaz came on in the bottom of the ninth inning and gave up a RBI single to pinch-hitter Yadiel Hernandez, but was able to recover and pick up his sixth save on the season. The Mets next game is tomorrow night at the Nationals at 6:05 p.m.
