Mets RHP Michael Wacha (Credits to Sports.Yahoo.com)

The New York Mets lost to the Baltimore Orioles 11-2 tonight for their second consecutive loss and dropped their record to 19-24. RHP Michael Wacha started out well with a 1-2-3 top of the first inning, but ran into trouble in the top of the second inning. Wacha gave up a lead-off single to catcher Pedro Severino and then two batters later a two-run homer to RF D.J. Stewart. In the top of the third inning, Wacha gave up a lead-off single to SS Jose Iglesias and later in the inning another two-run homer this time to LF Ryan Mountcastle. He gave up an unearned run in the top of the fifth inning after CF Jake Marisnick made a fielding error and was taken out after the inning. His final line was 4 innings, 7 hits, 5 runs (4 earned), 0 walks and 3 strikeouts. RHP Robert Gsellman came in next and had a difficult outing allowing six runs in 3 2/3 innings. Gsellman gave up a three-run homer to catcher Rio Ruiz in the top of the sixth and then a solo homer to 1B Pat Valiaka and a RBI single to Islesias in the top of the eighth. RHP Brad Brach had to come in the top of the eighth inning to get the last out and stayed in for the top of the ninth and threw a scoreless inning.
Marisnick drove in the first run of the game with a solo homer in the bottom of the first inning. The bats went quiet after that until the bottom of the eighth when LF Jeff McNeil hit a solo homer.
The Mets next game is tomorrow night at home against the Orioles at 7:10 p.m.
