Mets vs. Braves Game 53 Recap

The New York Mets lost to the Atlanta Braves 7-0 this afternoon to lose two out of three games in the series and dropped their record to 24-29. RHP Rick Porcello had his best outing of the season and threw five scoreless innings before allowing a solo homer to CF Ronald Acuna Jr in the top of the sixth. Porcello stayed in and threw a scoreless top of the seventh and was taken out after the inning. His final line was 7 innings, 3 hits, 1 run, 1 walk and 10 strikeouts. RHP Jeurys Familia came in next in the top of the eighth and walked Acuna and 1B Freddie Freeman with one out. Familia got DH Marcell Ozuna to 3B J.D. Davis, but then gave up a two-run double to catcher Travis d'Arnaud. LHP Chasen Shrieve followed in the top of the ninth and loaded the bases and gave up a based-clearing double to Acuna. RHP Corey Oswalt came on in the top of the ninth and gave up a RBI double to Ozuna.

The offense wasn't able to do much against Braves starter RHP Kyle Wright and had only three hits all day including two by catcher Wilson Ramos and a single by CF Brandon Nimmo;

The Mets next game is tomorrow night at home against the Tampa Bays Rays at 7:10 p.m.
