Mets vs. Nationals Game 59 Recap (Game 2 of doubleheader)

Mets RHP Rick Porcello and First Baseman Pete Alonso (Credits to MetsMerizedOnline.com) The New York Mets lost to the Washington Nationals in the second game of their doubleheader and dropped their record to 26-33. RHP Rick Porcello started out well with two scoreless innings, but it all unraveled for him in the bottom of the third. Porcelllo gave up a solo homer to SS Trea Turner and a RBI single to DH Yadiel Hernandez and two-out RBI singles to catcher Kurt Suzuki, 3B Josh Harrison and CF Michael Taylor and was taken out after the inning. His final line was 3 innings, 8 hits, 5 runs (3 earned), 1 walk and 3 strikeouts. RHP Erasmo Ramirez followed with a scoreless bottom of the fourth inning. RHP Dellin Betances came in next and threw a scoreless bottom of the fifth inning. RHP Jared Hughes threw a scoreless bottom of the sixth inning. The offense was held scoreless for the first three innings until the top of the fourth inning after 1B Pete Alonso hit a two-run homer. In the top of the sixth inning, they loaded the based with one out and 3B Todd Frazier hit a RBI single, but 3B Luis Guillorme and SS Amed Rosario struck out to end the inning. In the top of the seventh inning, RF Brandon Nimmo grounded out into a force out and LF Jeff McNeil lined out to end the game with the tying runs on base. The Mets final game is tomorrow afternoon at the Nationals at 3:05 p.m.
