The New York Mets announced today that Steve Cohen will hire Sandy Alderson as Team President once Cohen is approved by the owners. Alderson will oversee both baseball and business operations in his new position according to Jon Heyman of MLB Network. He was previously hired as Mets general manager from the end of 2010 season to July 2018 after he took a leave of absence due to a recurrence of cancer. Alderson helped draft many of the team's core players on the current roster including Brandon Nimmo, Michael Conforto,  Dom Smith, Jeff McNeil, Pete Alonso as well drafting LHP David Peterson. He was instrumental to the team's World Series appearance in 2015 after he traded for Yoenis Cespedes, signed Curtis Granderson as a free agent in 2013 offseason,  as well as trading RA Dickey for Noah Syndergarrd and Travis d'Arnaud.
