Mets RHP Ariel Jurado (Credits to MetsMerizedOnline.com)

The New York Mets lost to the Baltimore Orioles 9-5 tonight for their fifth straight loss and dropped their record to 15-21. RHP Ariel Jurado made his first start of his Met career and got into immediate trouble in the bottom of the first inning after he gave up singles to CF Cedric Mullins and RF Anthony Santander. DH Jose Iglesias doubled and then 1B Renato Nunez hit a three-run homer. In the bottom of the second inning, Jurado gave up singles to 2B Pat Valiaka and SS Andrew Velasquez. Two batters later, he gave up a RBI single to Santander and Iglesias grounded into a fielder's choice which brought home another run. He settled down after that with scoreless innings in the bottom of the third and fourth innings. Jurado's final line was 4 innings, 9 hits, 5 runs, 0 walks and 2 strikeouts. RHP Franklyn Kilome came in next and threw a scoreless bottom of the fifth inning. Kilome stayed in for the bottom of the sixth and gave up a lead-off walk to 3B Rio Ruiz who advanced on a wild pitch. He gave up an RBI double to Valiaka. Three batters later, he gave up a two-run homer to Santander. Kilome stayed in for the bottom of the seventh for his third inning of work and gave up a solo homer to Nunez, but didn't allow any more runs after that in the inning. RHP Jared Hughes came in next and threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth inning.
In the top of the second inning, 2B Robinson Cano led off with a single and then LF Jeff McNeil followed with a double. DH Pete Alonso drove in Cano with a sac fly. 3B Luis Guillorme then hit a RBI single to bring in McNeil. Cano continued his hot hitting with a solo homer in the top of the third inning. McNeil flew out and Alonso grounded out to start the top of the sixth inning, but Guillorme singled with two outs and SS Andres Giminez hit a two-run homer the first of his career to tie the game.
The Mets next game is at the Orioles tomorrow at 4:05 p.m.
