Mets Lose to Braves 3-1 And Waste Fine Start from Sean Manaea

The New York Mets lost to the Atlanta Braves 3-1 this afternoon at Citi Field to snap thei two-game losing streak and improved their record to 31-39.

Mets LHP Sean Manaea started out well with a scoreless top of the first and then gave up a RBI double to RF Eli White in the top of the second.

Manaea had a scoreless top of the third and then gave up another run in the top of the fourth getting beat by White once again after he hit a solo homer. 

Manea finished up strong with scoreless innings in the top of the fifth and sixth and was taken out after the sixth.

His final line was six innings, four hits, two runs, 0 walks and six strikeouts.

RHP Adam Warren followed with a scoreless top of the seventh and then came back out for the top of the eighth, striking out the first two hitters he faced before giving up a solo homer to CF Michael Harris II on a hanging slider.

RHP Daniel Duerte threw a scoreless top of the ninth.

The Met offense was held scoreless for the first five innings against LHP Martin Perez until the bottom of the sixth after SS Bo Bichette doubled with one out and two batters later, 1B Mark Vientos drove in Bichette with a RBI single.

In the bottom of the ninth, they had a chance to score after LF Juan Soto led off with a double that was overturned after it was originally ruled a home run. Vientos then struck out and 2B Marcus Semien followed with a walk. However, catcher Francisco Alvarez came up next and grounded into a double play to end the game.

The offense was unable to come up with a timely hit and went 1-5 with runners in scoring position leaving five runners on base.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Sunday, June 14 at home against the Braves at 1:40 p.m.
