The New York Mets beat the Toronto Blue Jays 3-0 tonight at the Rogers Centre to snap their two-game losing streak and improved their record to 36-50.

The Met offense was held scoreless for the first four innings wasting a scoring opportunity in the top of the fourth after LF Juan Soto led off with a walk and then 3B Bo Bichette led off with a single. SS Francisco Lindor then hit a ground-out to first base to advance Soto and Bichette to second and third with one out. However, 1B Jared Young and CF A.J. Ewing struck out to end the inning.

In the top of the fifth, DH Francisco Alvarez led off with a solo homer.

In the top of the seventh, catcher Luis Torrens also hit a solo homer.

In the top of the ninth, Ewing led off with a single and then Alvarez hit a ground-out which advanced Ewing to third. 2B Bret Baty followed with a sacrifice fly to score Ewing for a much needed insurance run.

McLean had a 1-2-3 bottom of the third and worked around a two-out double and walk in the bottom of the fourth.

McLean worked around an infield hit in the bottom of the fifth and a one-out walk in the bottom of the sixth and was taken out after the inning.

He had an outstanding outing with six scoreless innings on five hits and two walks with seven strikeouts.
