The New York Mets lost to the Philadelphia Phillies 6-2 tonight at Citizens Bank Park to lose two out of three games in the series and dropped their record to 34-43.

Mets LHP David Peterson got into immediate trouble in the bottom of the first after he walked the first two hitters SS Trea Turner and DH Kyle Schwarber.

Peterson then struck out 1B Bryce Harper, but gave up an infield hit to the following hitter to 3B Alec Bohm and Turner scored on an error by 3B Brett Baty and Schwarber advanced to third.

Peterson gave up another infield hit to the following hitter LF Edmundo Sosa which brought home the second run in the inning.

It only got worse for Peterson in the bottom of the second after he gave up back-to back singles to 2B Bryson Stott and Turner with one out and then a three-run homer to Schwarber.

Peterson was able to settle down after that and did not allow any more runs and had 1-2-3 innings in the bottom of the third and fourth and was then taken out.

Peterson's final line was four innings, six hits, five runs, (four earned runs), two walks and five strikeouts.

RHP Austin Warren came in next and gave up a lead-off homer to Harper in the bottom of the fifth, but then recovered and retired the side in the inning and threw a scoreless bottom of the sixth.

LHP Brooks Raley threw a scoreless bottom of the seventh.

LHP A.J. Minter threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth.

The Met offense was held scoreless for the first two innings until RF Carson Benge hit a solo homer in the top of the third.

In the top of the sixth, Benge, LF Juan Soto and 1B Jared Young walked to load the bases with one out, but then CF A.J. Ewing grounded into a fielder's choice to bring in a run and 2B Marcus Semien struck out to end the inning.

The offense was unable to come up with any timely hits and went 0-7 with runners in scoring position leaving six runners on base.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Monday, June 22 back at home at Citi Field against the Chicago Cubs at 7:10 p.m.
