The New York Mets beat the Atlanta Braves 7-5 tonight at Citi Field for their second consecutive win and improved their record to 31-38.

The Met offense got off to a fast start in the bottom of the first after SS Bo Bichette and LF Juan Soto hit back-to-back solo homers.

In the bottom of the second, D.H. M.J. Melendez doubled with two outs and then catcher Luis Torrens followed with an infield single.

RF Carson Benge was then hit by a pitch to load the bases and then Bichette came up and broke the game open with a grand slam.

In the bottom of the fourth, Melendez led off with a walk and Torrens followed with a single.

Benge then grounded into a fielder's choice to advance Melendez and Torrens to second and third and then Bichette drove in his sixth run of the game with a sacrifice fly.

RHP Nolan McLesn started out well with a 1-2-3 top of the first but ran into trouble in the top of the second.

McLean gave up a walk, error on a pick-off team attempt at first and another walk.

McLean then gave up a RBI single to RF Mike Yastrzemski and a third walk in the inning to load the bases with no out.

McLean was able to escape out of further trouble by striking out catcher Austin Wynns, getting LF Mauricio Dubon on an infield fly and struck out CF Michael Harris II to end the inning.

McLean was able to respond after that with a scoreless top of the third and another scoreless inning in the top of the fourth and was then taken out.

His final line was four innings, three hits, two runs, four walks and six strikeouts.

LHP Cionel Perez came in next in the top of the fifth retiring the first two hitters he faced and then gave up a solo homer to 1B Matt Olson.

Perez came back out for the top of the sixth and retired the first hitter he faced and then RHP Huascar Brazoban followed and had back-to-back strikeouts to end the inning.

Perez picked up his third save of the season.

Brazoban stayed in for the top of the seventh and had another dominating inning with two more strikeouts as part of a 1-2-3 inning.

LHP Brooks Raley came in next in the top of the eighth and gave up a lead-off single and after a passed ball and ground-out, gave up a RBI single to 2B Ozzie Albies. Raley then struck out pinch-hitter Jorge Mateo and gave up a double to 3B Austin Riley and was taken out.

RHP Devin Williams came on for a four-out save and gave up a RBI infield single to pinch-hitter Eli White that 3B Brett Baty knocked down. Williams came back to strike out pinch-hitter Rowdy Tellez to end the inning.

Williams stayed in for the top of the ninth and after striking out the first hitter he faced, gave up a one-out single to Dubon after a 14-pitch at-bat. Williams was able to settle down after that and managed to strike out Harris and Olson to close out the game and pick up his 10th save of the season.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Sunday, June 13 at home against the Braves at 4:10 p.m.
