The New York Mets lost to the San Diego Padres 3-2 tonight Petco Park to snap their four-game winning streak and dropped their record to 28-36.

RHP Nolan McLean started out well with two scoreless innings and then in the bottom of the third, gave up a lead-off walk 2B Sung-Man Song and two batters later, a RBI single to RF Fernando Tatis Jr. McLean was able to escape out of further trouble in the inning after he struck out 3B Manny Machado.

McLean then had a 1-2-3 bottom of the fourth and was helped out by his defense in the bottom of the fifth after SS Bo Bichette made a diving stop to hold runners at first and second and then catcher Luis Torrens made a pump-fake on a steal attempt by Song after he went too far off third base to throw him out.

McLean came back out for the bottom of the sixth and finished up strong with a 1-2-3 inning. His final line was six innings, three hits, one run, three walks and five strikeouts.

RHP Austin Warren followed in the bottom of the seventh and quickly retired his first two hitters and then ran into some bad luck after he couldn't field an infield hit down the first base line. On the next pitch, Warren gave up a two-run homer to catcher Freddy Fermin. Warren stayed in for the bottom of the eighth and threw a scoreless inning.

The Met offense got on the board in the top of the second after 2B Marcus Semien walked with one out and then CF A.J. Ewing followed with a single. Two batters later, 3B Brett Baty drove in Semien with a RBI single.

In the top of the seventh, Semien led off with a homer.

In the top of the eighth, they had a chance to score after RF Carson Benge and Bichette singled with one out, but then LF Juan Soto hit a hard line-out to Song and then doubled Benge off second base.

In the top of the ninth, Ewing walked with two outs and then DH Mark Vientos struck out for the last out of the game.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Sunday, June 7 at the Padres at 4:10 p.m.
