The New York Mets beat the Philadelphia Phillies 6-0 this afternoon at Citi Field to take two out of three games in the series and improved their record to 75-40.

The offense got on the board immediately in the bottom of the first after CF Brandon Nimmo led off with a double and two batters later SS Francisco Lindor hit a RBI single for his 82th RBI which broke Jose Reyes record of 81 RBI in 2006 for most RBI by a Mets SS in a season.

After scoreless innings in the bottom of the second and third, 1B Pete Alonso doubled with one out in the bottom of the fourth and two batters later LF Mark Canha hit a RBI single.

3B Luis Guillorme followed with a RBI single and then 2B Jeff McNeil walked.

Catcher James McCann came up next and hit a RBI single to CF Brandon Marsh which scored Guillorme and then McNeil also came around to score after Marsh made a weak throw to second base.

Guillorme had to come out of the game after he pulled up lame rounding third base. He was replaced by 3B Eduardo Escobar after the inning.

In the bottom of the sixth, DH Daniel Vogelbach continued his torrid hitting with a lead-off homer.

RHP Chris Bassitt started out well with three scoreless innings, but ran into trouble in the top of the fourth after he gave up singles to 1B Rhys Hoskins and 3B Alec Bohm, but then retired the next three hitters he faced to end the inning.

Bassitt struck out the next two hitters he faced and then walked Hoskins which loaded the bases.

1B Pete Alonso followed with a RBI single.

In the bottom of the second, 3B Luis Guillorme and 2B Jeff McNeil singled with one out, but then catcher Tomas Nido struck out and CF Brandon Nimmo grounded out to end the threat.

The New York Mets beat the Cincinnati Reds 5-1 tonight at Citi Field for their fourth consecutive win and improved their record to 71-39.

The offense got off to a fast start in the bottom of the first after CF Brandon Nimmo led off with a hit by pitch and then RF Starling Marte followed with a two-run homer.

In the bottom of the third, SS Francisco Lindor walked with one out and then stole second.

Two batters later, DH Daniel Vogelbach continued his torrid start as a Met with a RBI single.

The bats did not much for the next four innings until the bottom of the eighth after Vogelbach doubled with two outs and then 2B Jeff McNeil was hit by a pitch.

LF Tyler Naquin came up next and broke the game open with a two-run triple.

RHP Chris Bassitt cruised through the first three innings, but ran into trouble in the top of the fourth after 2B Jonathan India led off and reached on an error by 1B Pete Alonso and then two batters later, 3B Mike Moustakis hit a RBI single.

1B Joey Votto then hit a RBI ground-out.

Bassitt worked his way out of trouble in the top of the fifth after he was able to get CF Albert Almora  Jr to ground into a double play to end the inning.

Bassitt got himself into another jam in the top of the sixth, but was able to work himself out of it once again after he retired RF Aristides Aquino on a pop-up with the bases loaded to end the inning.

Bassitt worked out of another jam in the top of the seventh after allowing a hit and catchers interference, but then retired former met 2B Matt Reynolds on a fly-out to RF to end the inning.

Bassitt gave up a hit in the top of the eighth with two strikeouts and was taken out after the inning.

His final line was eight innings, eight hits, one run (zero earned), 0 walks and 8 strikeouts on a season-high 114 pitches.

The New York Mets beat the Atlanta Braves 5-2 this afternoon at Citi Field to take four out of five games in the series to increase their lead over the Braves to 6.5 games in the NL East improved their record to 70-39.

After scoreless innings in the bottom of the first and second, CF Brandon Nimmo led off in the bottom of the third with an infield single and two batters later, SS Francisco Lindor singled.

1B Pete Alonso followed with a two-run double and then DH Daniel Vogelbach walked.

The next hitter 2B Jeff McNeil flew out, but then LF Mark Canha came up next and broke the game open with a two-run double.

In the bottom of the fifth, McNeil led off with a double and Canna flew out to right which allowed McNeil to advance to third.

McNeil then was able to score on a wild pitch by RHP Colin McHugh.

RHP Jacob deGrom got off to a incredible start retiring the first 17 hitters he faced until he walked 2B Elhire Adrianza with two outs in the top of the sixth and then gave up a two-run homer to SS Dansby Swanson and was then taken out.

DeGrom had pinpoint control on his fastball as well as a wipeout slider and was to generate 18 swings-and-misses on his slider.

He was amazing from the beginning with unhittable stuff and had one of the best starts a Met pitcher has had this year.

If DeGrom can pitch like this going forward for the remainder of the season along with Max Scherzer it helps form arguably the best 1-2 punch at the top of the rotation in baseball which would be tough to beat in the playoffs.

DeGrom picked up his first win of the season.

LHP Joely Rodriguez followed with 2.1 scoreless innings.

RHP Edwin Diaz came on in the top of the ninth and continued his incredible season with another spectacular performance striking out the side on 14 pitches with fastball and slider and picked up his 26th save.
